Museum of Sex, New York NYC 2002 / joint venture

An exhibition on how New York city transformed sex in America. Our brief was to design an exhibition that focused on New York’s perceived role as a leader of sexual diversity.

Your journey as a visitor starts when you are transported into an interpretive setting of a brothel's bedroom via a Victorian patterned chain curtain where a prostitute was murdered in the early New York year's, from there journey continues down vista's of ceiling hung white walls which stop two thirds down to reveal visitor’s lower forms, as they cluster together to peer through peep holes in the walls, which spill text, sounds and fragments of film. Other luminescent colourful apertures reveal an assortment of textures, furs, plastics, latex and feathers etc…
